Description
The 1969 Honda ST70 DAX is fundamentally the same as a Honda CT70. There are a few subtle differences though, speedo in km/h, unique front fender, turn signals, toe/heal shifter, different footpegs, no front engine guard, and street tires. Honda sold the DAX to the Asian and European market. This one was imported to the US. Nice little Honda ST70 in good running condition. Rusty chrome patina. Matching engine VIN. Original except for rear turn signals. Missing chain guard.
Engine runs and shift excellent. New gaskets, new oil seals, (no oil leaks), lapped the valves, honed the cylinder, same piston and rings on STD bore, runs great, very good compression. No broken fins, no cracked engine cases, (left side magneto cover has a small chunk missing). Fires right up first-second kick, barely needs any choke when cold, idles perfect. Thoroughly cleaned carb. Cleaned and set points/timing, new oil, air filter, new plug, new fuel lines, tank is clean. Shifts good and smooth, starts and stops properly. It will need a set of clutch plates – if I have time I will install. Front and rear brakes work. Speedo works. Wire harness is nice, horn works, probably needs bulbs, switch controls on bars look good. Tires are old and cracked but hold air. Horn works. Front turn signals glow which means the switch controls work and the rear bulbs are probably blown. Front turn signal lenses are missing.
